A weekend in a suite in the heart of the hills
Renovated to suit its style and in line with tradition, the Château de Béthune – which has been renamed “Château Bagatelle” – features reception rooms, guesthouse facilities and a holiday cottage. You will stay in the “Suite Bagatelle” (which has four épis) and you will enjoy the tranquillity of the estate and of its four-hectare (10-acre) park.
You are 10 minutes from Tournai and a stone’s throw from the Pays des Collines. This establishment has the “Bikes Welcome” label and your host suggests that you go on a 21 km (13 miles) bike tour in order to discover the Natural Park of the Pays des Collines. You will go through the villages of Frasnes-les-Buissenal, Saint Sauveur, Dergneau, Arc-Ainières and Anvaing, using the cycle nodes network. Admire the Château d’Anvaing – surrounded by water and trees – and the views of the hills! The only difficulty on the itinerary is a steep uphill section about midway through, which will require a bit of puff.
