How do you fancy two days of pure enchantment? Enjoy the walks that take place every year, in mid-August, in the grounds of the Château d’Enghien. You’ll discover one of the most exceptional gardens in Wallonia from an angle that’s, quite simply, marvellous. After a good night's sleep at the Clef Deschamp in Silly, explore the Pays des Collines and its “Village de l’Étrange” which can’t fail to leave you unmoved...
Day 1 – Saturday
Saturday afternoon You’ll be heading for the grounds of the Château d’Enghien again to venture into the Forêt des Secrets. Storytellers, street artists, creative workshops and artisans await to take you on a magical adventure where you’ll be initiated into an invisible and elusive world that’s right at your fingertips... There are six storytelling walks with departures every hour from 15:30 on (at 15:30, 16:30, 17:30, 19:30, and 20:00). Don’t forget to reserve.
Saturday evening. Less than 10 km from the grounds, La Clef Deschamps chambre d’hôtes offers you dinner and a warm welcome. There, they live and eat Slow Food, or, put another way, they take the time to relax and feel good. The food is delicious and the rooms extremely comfortable.
Day 2 – Sunday
After a balanced breakfast at Clef Deschamps, move on to Ellezelles, located some 20km from Silly. Discover the Village des Sorcières (the village of witches) and its renowned brewery: the Brasserie des Légendes . Here, you can taste Quintine, a brew named after the famous witch, unless, that is, you prefer the Hercule, named after an illustrious figure apparently born in the locality! After having tasted one of the beer-based dishes at the Chaudron des Légendes, the tavern that adjoins the brewery, point yourself in the direction of the Maison du Pays des Collines. Open from 13:00 to 17:30, it offers an interactive circuit covering the traditions, tales and legends of the region.
Why not take up this idea of a break to stay on some other key dates too, and experience even more events to fire the imagination in Picardy Wallonia!
